About KaalSetu

KaalSetu — कालसेतु, "a bridge across time" — makes the Hindu calendar usable in everyday life. Daily panchang, festival dates, muhurat windows, choghadiya, kundli, guna milan, ritual guidance and ancestral shraddha reminders, computed for your exact location and presented in your language.

Why we built it

Traditional almanacs are precise but hard to read, and most modern apps are generic calendars with a festival list bolted on. KaalSetu keeps the classical rules intact — tithi at sunrise, paksha, adhika and kshaya maas, aparahna-based shraddha — while making them searchable, location-aware and personal.

How we compute

  • Drik (observation-based) astronomy for sun and moon positions, with Lahiri ayanamsa.
  • Sunrise and sunset computed for your chosen coordinates and timezone, not a national default.
  • Classical rule layers for kshaya/vriddhi tithis, adhika maas, and Vaishnava vs. Smarta Ekadashi.
  • Regional conventions (Amanta / Purnimanta) applied where festival dates depend on them.

Privacy by default

Your location stays in your browser unless you save it to your profile. Family and ancestor records are private to your account and protected by row-level database rules. We do not sell personal data. See the Privacy Policy.
