Understanding Choghadiya

Choghadiya (चौघड़िया) is a Vedic system used to pick auspicious windows for daily activities — travel, meetings, purchases, ceremonies. The day from sunrise to sunset is split into 8 equal parts and the night from sunset to next sunrise into 8 more. Each window is ruled by a planet and carries a fixed nature.

• അമൃതം (ചന്ദ്രൻ) — most auspicious; ideal for any new beginning.
• ശുഭം (വ്യാഴം) — favorable for ceremonies and learning.
• ലാഭം (ബുധൻ) — gains, business, financial activities.
• ചരം (ശുക്രൻ) — neutral; good for travel and short tasks.
• ഉദ്വേഗം (സൂര്യൻ) — restlessness; avoid important work.
• കാലം (ശനി) — avoid new ventures.
• രോഗം (ചൊവ്വ) — illness/conflict; avoid health & legal matters.
