Understanding Choghadiya

Choghadiya (चौघड़िया) is a Vedic system used to pick auspicious windows for daily activities — travel, meetings, purchases, ceremonies. The day from sunrise to sunset is split into 8 equal parts and the night from sunset to next sunrise into 8 more. Each window is ruled by a planet and carries a fixed nature.

• ଅମୃତ (ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର) — most auspicious; ideal for any new beginning.
• ଶୁଭ (ଗୁରୁ) — favorable for ceremonies and learning.
• ଲାଭ (ବୁଧ) — gains, business, financial activities.
• ଚର (ଶୁକ୍ର) — neutral; good for travel and short tasks.
• ଉଦ୍ବେଗ (ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ) — restlessness; avoid important work.
• କାଳ (ଶନି) — avoid new ventures.
• ରୋଗ (ମଙ୍ଗଳ) — illness/conflict; avoid health & legal matters.
