Understanding Choghadiya

Choghadiya (चौघड़िया) is a Vedic system used to pick auspicious windows for daily activities — travel, meetings, purchases, ceremonies. The day from sunrise to sunset is split into 8 equal parts and the night from sunset to next sunrise into 8 more. Each window is ruled by a planet and carries a fixed nature.

• अमृतम् (चन्द्रः) — most auspicious; ideal for any new beginning.
• शुभः (गुरुः) — favorable for ceremonies and learning.
• लाभः (बुधः) — gains, business, financial activities.
• चरः (शुक्रः) — neutral; good for travel and short tasks.
• उद्वेगः (सूर्यः) — restlessness; avoid important work.
• कालः (शनिः) — avoid new ventures.
• रोगः (मङ्गलः) — illness/conflict; avoid health & legal matters.
