Understanding Choghadiya

Choghadiya (चौघड़िया) is a Vedic system used to pick auspicious windows for daily activities — travel, meetings, purchases, ceremonies. The day from sunrise to sunset is split into 8 equal parts and the night from sunset to next sunrise into 8 more. Each window is ruled by a planet and carries a fixed nature.

• அமிர்தம் (சந்திரன்) — most auspicious; ideal for any new beginning.
• சுபம் (குரு) — favorable for ceremonies and learning.
• லாபம் (புதன்) — gains, business, financial activities.
• சரம் (சுக்கிரன்) — neutral; good for travel and short tasks.
• உத்வேகம் (சூரியன்) — restlessness; avoid important work.
• காலம் (சனி) — avoid new ventures.
• ரோகம் (செவ்வாய்) — illness/conflict; avoid health & legal matters.
