Privacy Policy

KaalSetu ("KaalSetu", "we", "us", "our") is a portfolio product of Vuray Consulting Private Limited, a company incorporated in India (vuray.in), which is the data fiduciary/controller for personal data processed through kaalsetu.com and its subdomains (the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account data — email address, display name, authentication identifiers, and (if you use Google sign-in) the basic profile fields Google returns.
• Location data — the city or coordinates you select, or an approximate location derived from your device if you tap "Use my current location". We never track background location.
• Personal records you create — family members, birth details used for kundli and guna milan, and ancestor records used for shraddha reminders. These may include dates, times, and places of birth or passing.
• Preferences — language, region/sampradaya convention, saved cities, notification settings.
• Contact submissions — the name, email, topic, and message you send through the contact form.
• Technical data — IP address, browser/device type, and pages visited, logged by our hosting and security providers.
• Usage analytics — aggregated, non-identifying page views and feature usage.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 18 without parental consent where required by local law).

2. Sensitive data

Birth details and ancestral records can reveal religious practice. We treat them as sensitive: they are stored against your account, protected by row-level access rules so only you can read them, and never used for advertising or profiling. Do not enter records about other living people without their consent.

3. Why we process it (legal bases)

• Contract — to compute and deliver panchang, muhurat, kundli, and festival information you request.
• Consent — location access, browser push notifications, and optional AI features. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, debugging, and improving the Service.
• Legal obligation — retaining records where Indian law requires it.

4. AI features

Smart Search, the astrology companion, and the Sankalp generator send your prompt and the relevant computed panchang values to third-party AI model providers so they can generate a response. We do not send your account email or full family records unless the request itself needs them. Providers process the request to serve the response; we do not permit them to use your content to train their models.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage for sign-in sessions, your selected city and language, and offline caching of panchang data for use without a network connection. Clearing site data removes these.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with processors needed to run the Service — cloud hosting and CDN, managed database and authentication, email delivery, AI model providers, and analytics — each bound by contract to protect it. We may disclose data where required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections.

8. Retention

Account and personal records are retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion in backups, after which they are purged. Contact messages are kept up to 24 months. Aggregated analytics that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage at rest, row-level database access rules, and least-privilege access for staff. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

10. Your rights

• Access, correct, or export the data you have given us.
• Delete your account and associated records.
• Withdraw consent for location, notifications, or AI features.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
• Nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity (India DPDP Act).

11. Changes

We will update this page and the "last updated" date when this policy changes, and give prominent notice for material changes.
