Step-by-step Vidhi

Aachaman & Sankalpa
Sip water thrice, then state your intention (sankalpa) with name, gotra, place and date.

Avahana
Invoke Ganesha into the murti with folded hands and the moola mantra.

Snana & Vastra
Bathe the murti with water, then panchamrit, then water again. Offer a clean cloth.

Shodashopachara
Offer sandal, akshat, durva, red flowers, incense, lamp, and naivedya in order.

Aarti & Pradakshina
Perform aarti with camphor, circumambulate thrice, prostrate, and seek blessings.

Visarjan / Closing
Request Ganesha to remain in your heart and conclude with shanti mantra.
Samagri checklist
- Ganesha murti or image
- Red flowers (especially hibiscus) and durva grass (21 blades)
- Modak or laddu as naivedya
- Sandal paste, kumkum, akshat (unbroken rice)

Regional variants
Maharashtra
Durva of 21 blades is essential; modak is the prime naivedya, especially in Bhadrapada Chaturthi.
South India
Kozhukattai (steamed modak) and arugampul (durva) are offered; chants in Sanskrit and Tamil.
North India
Laddu and boondi are offered; sindoor is applied to the murti.
