Step-by-step Vidhi

Achaman & Sankalpa
Purify yourself with achaman and state the sankalpa.

Ganesh Smaran
Briefly invoke Ganesha for an obstacle-free abhishek.

Abhishek Dhara
Pour each liquid in turn over the linga while chanting Rudram or Om Namah Shivaya.

Archana
Offer bilva patra, white flowers and vibhuti after the abhishek.

Aarti & Pradakshina
Camphor aarti, half pradakshina (do not cross the somasutra), prostration.

- Shiva linga (parad, narmadeshwar or stone) on a yoni-peeth
- Panchamrit, ganga jal, sugarcane juice, tender coconut water
- Bilva patra (108), white flowers, dhatura, bhang (optional)

Kashi / North India
Performed at jyotirlingas with ganga jal and bilva; Rudram chanted in full.
South India
Panchamrit abhishek with separate dhara for each liquid; bilva and vibhuti placed in a specific pattern.
Maharashtra
Laghu Rudra (11 paths) on Shravan Mondays is highly recommended.
